   Honestly, I would have removed the `--add-missing` as well from `bootstrap.sh` but it seems that that option still cannot be added to `AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE()`. It was brought up with the autotools maintainers a long time ago [here](https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/automake/2012-08/msg00044.html), but for the wrong reason (libtool reasons).
