reporting UI
Hi
Has anyone integrated with any standalone UI to display results from kylin
queries as tables and ability to pick columns. I saw a demo for tableau
integration but having a simple web based UI to demo a POC would be a great
option and iterate faster with business.
Any recommendations for a basic interface ?

Saiku requires Mondrian - or another MDX engine, and putting another engine on Saiku would be more work.
Pentaho has a wizard where you can attach to a relational data source, quickly define a cube, and then start doing multidimensional analysis using Mondrian.

Does Saiku work without Mondrian under the hood ?
The UI is good but I dont want to have any in memory cube to start with,
just want to hit HBase most of the times.

Also worth trying Mondrian + Saiku. Then you'd have a true OLAP UI on top of Kylin OLAP!

You can try BIRT but be prepared to handle issues. We once tested Kylin

Hi Vipul,
Tableau could work very well with Kylin, here's tutorial:
https://github.com/KylinOLAP/Kylin/wiki/Kylin-and-Tableau-Tutorial
It requires install Kylin ODBC Driver and then you will be able to
interactive with Kylin through Tableau just like other data source.
