[VOTE] JMeter distribution packaging
Hi.
I've been playing with build.xml and the Gump configuration files. Looks
like we'll shortly have useable nightly builds.
In the process, I've rearranged the way jmeter is packed, with two intents:
1/ Trying to be more consistent with how other jakarta projects do it.
This mainly implies changing the tar/zip file name to jakarta-jmeter
(instead of ApacheJMeter).
2/ Exploring the possibility of separating source from binary.
I believe these changes (mainly the 2nd one) are too important to be
done without formal voting, so here it is:
VOTE: Rename the distribution files from ApacheJMeter.* to jakarta-jmeter.*
Jordi Salvat i Alabart: +1
VOTE: Put only binaries (the bare minimum needed to run JMeter) into the
binary distribution file.

Salut,
Jordi.

The docs will be packaged with the binaries, since users will need them.
I'm thinking about what to do with javadocs. I'll most likely pack them
separately, since doing otherwise is most difficult.
Salut,
Jordi.

I was thinking about this... I have some doubts:
Currently Gump is taking care of building the nightly src snapshots. Do
we really need to do our own? Should these replace the gump-made ones?
Which mechanism should we use to build them: do a new CVS export (safer)
or just pack the ones in the work directory (cheaper)?
Thanks,
Jordi.

The "dist" target should also make a source-only distribution too, in this case.

+1 on both (though I think a vote wouldn't have been necessary for it).
Greetings,
Wolfram
P.S.: A bit under pressure at work AND private therefore rather loosely
watching than actively working. This should end (at latest) around march...
