Problem with samples ...

Hi SOAPers,

My environment is: JDK 1.2.2, Tomcat 3.2, SOAP 2.1, Xerces 1.3.1. I set the
CLASSPATH in tomcat.sh at line 111 with xerces.jar as the first entry. Yet, when
I try to work with samples, I get this message.

prompt> java org.apache.soap.server.ServiceManagerClient

org.apache.soap.server.ServiceManagerClient.deploy(ServiceManagerClient.java,

Pardon me if this is too basic a question for I just started on XML/SOAP :-)

HI Erastus,
My environment is: JDK 1.2.2, Tomcat 3.2.1, SOAP 2.1.
I've downloaded the quickstartzip file from xmethods.
And I've done the all classpath settings. But I still I'm getting the problem
like this......
This test assumes a server URL of
http://localhost:8080/soap/server/rpcrouter
Deploying the addressbook service...
Ouch, the call failed:
  Fault Code = SOAP-ENV:Server.Exception:
  Fault String = org.w3c.dom.Node: method
getNamespaceURI()Ljava/lang/String; no
t found
.
Verify that its there
Ouch, the call failed:
  Fault Code = SOAP-ENV:Server.Exception:
  Fault String = org.w3c.dom.Node: method
getNamespaceURI()Ljava/lang/String; no
t found
.
Getting info for "Mr Good"
Please reply .
TIA,
Sreenivas

Hi RAJ,

I don't know why it happens -but I have a good idea that it happens often.

I have only been on the list for 2 days and I see the same problem crop up
every few hours. I'm sure people have taken note and have jotted down on a
list somewhere that the problem should get some attention.

Note to Apache SOAP team, website maintainers:
good work, we think Apache SOAP is nifty -but please make it so people
reading setup instructions don't grab Xerces 1.3.1 :)

Best,
Erastus

Hi Erastus,

Many thanks. This worked. I wasted about 5 Hrs trying to figure out what
went
wrong.

Is there any explanation as to why this happens?

Don't use Xerces 1.3.1. It doesn't work.
I used the quickstart package from xmethods.com that has all the jars you
need.
