[jira] Created: (WW-1931) datetime picker

datetime picker
---------------

                 Key: WW-1931
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/struts/browse/WW-1931
             Project: Struts 2
          Issue Type: New Feature
            Reporter: Denys Romanyuk

s:datetimepicker now shows a standard dojo datetime picker.

But the dojo datetime picker is not very good. For example, it's impossible to select month with 1 mouse click. A lot of other limitations are there.
Maybe take a look at a brilliant FREE js datetime picker at http://www.dynarch.com/projects/calendar/

I think it will be a good idea to include this calendar to struts 2 distribution.

[jira] Resolved: (WW-1931) Better datetime picker

Musachy Barroso resolved WW-1931.
---------------------------------

       Resolution: Won't Fix
    Fix Version/s: (was: Future)
                   2.1.0

I'm closing this ticket as I think the overall agreement is to let people contribute this kind of non-core features through plugins, instead of bringing them into Struts 2,. For an example of a plugin supplying a datepicker see:

http://code.google.com/p/struts2yuiplugin/

same thing can be done with other javascript implementations. Besides, the license for this particular JS library is GPL, so I don't think we would ever be able to bring it in right?

Musachy Barroso commented on WW-1931:
-------------------------------------

Start by reading this:

http://struts.apache.org/helping.html

You can ask on the dev forum if people would agree to bring that in. In the mean time, Struts is very extensible via plugins, so you can start there. This is the plugin registry page:

I don't think we will be supporting any other javascript framework, but it can always be made into a plugin.

Question: if I have time to contrubute to the project, what do I have to do ?
If I'd like to make this calendar into s:datetimepicker2 or something ?
