[jira] [Commented] (HIVE-7444) Update supported operating systems & requirements in wikidoc

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-7444?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=14238771#comment-14238771 ]

Lefty Leverenz commented on HIVE-7444:
--------------------------------------

bq. " ... users would be strongly advised to start moving to Java 8."

Should that advice wait for resolution of HIVE-8607 (Java 8 support for Hive) or do we want to mention it in the wiki now with a link to HIVE-8607?

> DISCLAIMER: Hive has only been tested on Unix (Linux) and Mac systems using Java 1.6 for now – although it may very well work on other similar platforms. It does not work on Cygwin.
