Problem connecting to Slide 2.0 beta 1 with WebDAV clients

I've download and configured the various binary versions of slide
and simply cannot get Window XP or Gnome Nautilus to connect. The
slide client works fine. I have no problem with the tomcat 4.1.29
webdav client.

The server starts up fine. I can connect with a web browser and see
the directory listings. When I set the parameter directory-browsing
to false the listings are no longer available as expected.

When I connect using the Windows XP instructions, I receive the
message:

The folder you entered does not appear to be valid. Please choose
  another.

I've tried changing several of the compatibility parameters to
no avail. I've tried the following URI with the same result:

  http://localhost:8080/slide/
  http://localhost:8080/slide/files/

I'm using Debian with Linux 2.6.3, j2sdk-1.4.2_03, and various
versions of tomcat.

Any help would be appreciated even if only to say that someone has
slide working on this linux kernel.

See <http://greenbytes.de/tech/webdav/webfolder-client-list.html> for a
list of MS Webfolder versions and their issues (feedback and corrections
welcome).

Slide and Mysql as a contentstore...Can Anybody render some help?

Posted by Gbenga Bello <rg...@yahoo.com>.
Hello List,

Since the beginning of this week, I've been trying to connect to Mysql from Slide.

I have been able to walk through using a filecontentstore. This was quite successful.

Now my task is to use mysql RDBMS as the contentstore.

So far, I have editted domain.xml file.

I am using a Java sample code posted sometime ago by one of the members of the List to walk through slide and mysql as contentstore.

I am running
 +Windows2000
+using Mysql version 4.0.12 (I have this properly setup)
+Slide 2.0 Tomcat 5.0.6 (as my DAV Server)
 +J.D.K 1.4

I am currently having the following errors. I hope someone out there will give me guidance as to what I need to do or probably what it is that I am doing wrong.

That's interesting. I've only tried a single Windows XP client
here. However, Nautilus on my Linux computer fails as well while it
works fine with tomcat-4.1.29 and apache webdav (as does XP).

I don't have office installed. It XP sp 1 with all the available
patches applied. Hmmm, could virus detection softwre be an issue?

Thanks, I'll give that a try and report back.

Hi

I have had some of the same problems with the XP client - and my slide
server is running on a windows machine! In my case it only gave problems on
some machines - so my conclusion was that it had something to do with the
client and not the server!?!

I know that the WebDAV client on XP is updated when some versions of MS
office and ms sharepoint client is installed on the machine!

Do you have a Microsoft office installed? If yes, what version and service
pack.

If you do not have Microsoft office then you could download the trial
version of MS sharepoint and install the client on you XP.

Good. At least I have one data point. Thanks for your response.

I've tried a number of configurations to get this to work. The first was to
use as is the configuration provided in the archive following the install
instructions precisely. I always seem to be able to get the slide client to
work but with XP I only have directory browsing working.

Could this be some incompatibility with linux-2.6.3? Anyone have success
with this kernel version?

Posted by Giorgio Franceschetti <g....@vidya.it>.
I've had no problem connecting with XP.
I've slide 2.0b1 with tomcat 5.0.16 on a Linux Server (same JDK as
yours but an older kernel).
I had not to change the configuration files that came with the release
on the server side.
I had only to set the URL to http://myServer:8080/slide/files when
connecting with the webdav client embedded in XP.

Can you explain better what's your configuration when you try to
connect with XP and
what is the procedure that you follow?
