ObjectCacheClass=org.apache.ojb.broker.cache.ObjectCacheEmptyImpl does not work

ObjectCacheClass=org.apache.ojb.broker.cache.ObjectCacheEmptyImpl does 
not work at all. If I/ we use this as our cache implementation, OJB does 
not function. Do I have to configure other things to use this?
