Tim Armstrong resolved IMPALA-2471.

    Resolution: Later

This has been idle a long time. I think IMPALA-8656 and other improvements probably helped here.

> Key: IMPALA-2471
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/IMPALA-2471
> Project: IMPALA
> Issue Type: Task
> Components: Backend
> Affects Versions: Impala 2.2.4
> Reporter: Alan Choi
> Priority: Minor
>
> There are some known performance issues with the current HS2 thrift protocol:
> 1. Large overhead ~60%
> This is unacceptably large.
> 2. Slow network throughput ~10MB/sec only
> Even though the HS2 client is co-located with the server, the throughput is max out at ~10MB/sec
