[jira] [Commented] (RANGER-179) Argus/Ranger to support authorization and auditing for Apache Kafka

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/RANGER-179?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=15082553#comment-15082553 ]

Don Bosco Durai commented on RANGER-179:
----------------------------------------

This security feature on the Kafka side has been going for a while. I have been updating the Ranger side to keep up with their constant changes. So the code was committed, but to use it, you had to custom Kafka build over their 0.8.3 release.

Now, Kafka has released their side officially as version 0.9. From the Ranger side Alok was working on fixing some last minute changes and enabling the build by default.

[~aloklal99] has written a nice writeup for this feature [https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/RANGER/Kafka+Plugin]. If you have any comment, please provide your feedback.

Also, the JIRA [https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/RANGER-777] should have enabled building Kafka plugin by default.
