making a jira filter public

The 10.2 release page contains a link to a JIRA filter I created. How do
I make this filter public? Right now, other people are getting a
permissions problem when they click on the link.

Thanks,
-Rick

Dang. I don't have a Share link in the Operations column. I have View,
Edit, Delete, and Add Column Order. Hm.

There should be a 'Share' link in the Operations column in the table
where the filter you created is listed. Clicking that link allows you
to change the sharing of your filter. Or do you not have a 'Share'
link there?

Whether or not one can see the Share link is a question of karma.
Someone of greater karma can grant this privilege to someone of lesser
karma.

I see now that your original query was for bugs that developers have
marked to be fixed in 10.2 , which is interesting too, but maybe it
could be all issues, not just bugs. That would be 108 on the current
10.2 fix list.
http://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?reset=true&&pid=10594&fixfor=11187&status=1&status=3&status=4&sorter/field=issuekey&sorter/order=DESC

32 business days until August 10, so that would be 3.375 issues per day
for the community assuming everyone has the issues they plan to fix for
10.2 marked as such. Doesn't sound so bad.

Interestingly though 71 of the issues marked Fix Version 10.2 are
currently unassigned.
http://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?reset=true&&pid=10594&fixfor=11187&assigneeSelect=unassigned&status=1&status=3&status=4&sorter/field=issuekey&sorter/order=DESC

72 issues are assigned but do not have a fix version marked
http://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?reset=true&&pid=10594&fixfor=-1&assigneeSelect=specificgroup&assignee=derby-developers&status=1&status=3&status=4&sorter/field=issuekey&sorter/order=DESC

What do all these numbers mean?
Probably nothing. A lot of the information is skewed because of Jira
maintenance issues, like DERBY-1442, marked Fix Version 10.2.0.0 but
probably intended as the Affects Version. Jira currently could use a
good house-cleaning to make the reports meaningful. I posted some Jira
maintenance reports on the Wiki at
http://wiki.apache.org/db-derby/DerbyJiraReports.

I started some obvious cleanup because I need to pull out some metrics
(Sorry for all the spam).
It would be great if folks could look at the maintenance reports at
http://wiki.apache.org/db-derby/DerbyJiraReports and restrict to CURRENT
USER for Reporter or Assignee as appropriate. Also it would be
interesting to see the numbers if folks mark the issues Fix Version 10.2
that they plan to fix for the release.

Thanks, Kathey. I have substituted your pessimistic query for my
optimistic one and added the critical/blocker query.

No, it just means you're better at this than I am!

Oops didn't answer your questions. It cans the query not the results.

Your link for bugs affecting 10.2 works but I think it is entirely too
optimistic. I find it funny that when you look at 10.2 you see 29 bugs
and when I look at 10.2 I see 192 bugs. I think this reflects a
fundamental difference in our perspective on things #:)

We actually have a global filter for Derby Open Code Bugs, (those that
affect the trunk /10.2 ): and this link should work for that:
http://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?reset=true&&type=1&pid=10594&component=11407&component=11409&component=11690&component=11410&component=11709&component=11411&component=11415&component=11408&component=11412&component=11414&status=1&status=3&status=4&sorter/field=issuekey&sorter/order=DESC

I think it would also be good to include separate links for the
Critical/Blocker issues that might hold up the release.
http://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?reset=true&&pid=10594&priority=1&priority=2&status=1&status=3&status=4&sorter/field=issuekey&sorter/order=ASC&sorter/field=updated&sorter/order=DESC&sorter/field=priority&sorter/order=DESCrg/jira/secure/ConfigureReport.jspa?filterid=12310892

I also would love to see a link for issues fixed in 10.2 but I can't
figure out how to get a report for that.

Thanks, Kathey. I have put the permlink link into the wiki page as a
fallback. Do you know whether this cans the query or the results?

My experience has been that mere mortals cannot do this, but maybe that
has changed. Another issue with global filters is that they can be
seen all over Apache. Recently I have been using the [Permlink] for
jira reports. You run your query and press [Permlink] near the top
right of the page. Then you can put that in your Wiki page. I did
this for a bunch of the reports on
http://wiki.apache.org/db-derby/DerbyJiraReports
<http://wiki.apache.org/db-derby/DerbyJiraReports>

The only place I found that I really have to have a global filter now is
if I want a Single Level Group By Report. Then it has to be keyed off a
global  filter.

Thanks, Andrew. I did stumble on the filter management page. My question
is, once I'm on that page, how do I change my filter from Private to
Global? Clicking on the Private icon isn't working for me and I don't
know what other trick to try.

When you click Find Issues in the main JIRA menubar, there is a
Filters: Manage link in the top left under the menubar. On the Manage
filters page, you can choose to share any of your saved filters either
globally or just with a specific group (e.g. just with
derby-developers)
