Is the Installer working?
Hey, can someone else try installing Apache Flex SDK 4.14.1? I think the
mirror code is broken again.
Thanks,

Still failing, still seeing the new line issue and I’m getting an MD5 failure now :-(
Installer version 3.2.0 (mac)
Using Locale: en_AU
Fetched the SDK download mirror URL from the CGI.
SDK version Apache Flex SDK 4.14.1
AIR version 16.0
Flash Player version 16.0
Creating Apache Flex home
Creating temporary directory
Downloading Apache Flex SDK from: http://apache.claz.org/
flex/4.14.1/binaries/apache-flex-sdk-4.14.1-bin.tar.gz
Verifying Apache Flex SDK MD5 Signature
The Apache Flex SDK MD5 Signature of the downloaded files does not match the reference value. The file is invalid, installation is aborted.

Hmm, you are getting the new line as well, but it is working for you and
me. I couldn't figure out how the new line is getting in the response.
But because some other user was potentially having trouble with the
cross-domain aspect of my workaround, I spent this morning trying to learn
about CGI.
I'm not quite sure I learned about CGI, but in trying to learn, I found
that the mirrors.cgi we call has xml output capability (as well as JSON)
and by turning on xml output, I think I have a same-domain workaround.
Please try installing again to see if it works and the new line has gone
away. I will say that if this workaround doesn't hold up, it might be
time to rush an Installer release out while folks are working on the SDK
release.

Hi,
Still failing for me. Someone else mind giving it go just in case I’ve got something cached etc..
Thanks,

OK, I added a trim call. See if it makes a difference.
FWIW, it turned out that the Installer code is expecting plain text, not
HTML. It looks like single-mirror-url.cgi just calls the main mirror.cgi
which now returns a bunch of styling information in the HTML. The servlet
I put together is trying to find the content and return it as plain text.
If someone knows how the CGI works on flex.a.o, it might be possible to
upgrade single-mirror-url.cgi to also scrape off the unwanted content and
return plain text. That’s more about CGI than I want to learn at this
point.
Thanks,

The line break is in the log.

Interesting. Is the line break between apache and flex in the log or due
to the mail agent? If there is a line break in there, that could mess
things up.

Well, Infra wouldn’t let us use archive.a.o. I spent the day installing
TomCat on the apacheflexbuild and creating a servlet that grabs the dirty
cgi output and returns just what we need. I’ve modified the
sdk-installer-config-4.0.xml file so our Installer and InstallerBadge hit
a nonexistent html file on flex.a.o and the .htaccess redirects to
apacheflexbuild. It seems to work.
We might need to crank out another installer release that uses the CGI via
JSON.

Spoke too soon. FlexJS only worked because it picked up FalconJX from the
cache. It failed on a newer machine. Still digging.

FWIW, something Infra said just clicked. The CMS is injecting the bad CSS
so this issue probably only started when I pushed updates to the website
today.
I have switched the installer to not use the mirrors and successfully
installed both 4.14.1 and 0.5.0 from archive.a.o.

Just so you know we’re likely to hit that limit.

Re: Is the Installer working?

Thanks, not quite sure what that means. Has anyone been successful in the
past hour, 2 hours, 4 hours? For 4.14.1 (or FlexJS 0.5.0) since those use
the mirrors. Older releases shouldn’t be affected.
And actually, that’s the workaround I will implement. I will point 4.14.1
and 0.5.0 right to Archive. I think it can handle 100 downloads a day
until they get this fixed.

Yeah, that’s how I first found it. Is our analytics behind by several
hours so we don’t know when the breakage started? I’m sort of surprised
it is working at all for anybody right now.

I’m still seeing successful downloads - perhaps it’s mirror dependant OR the change has been in the last 24 hours.
Thanks,

Yep. I filed https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-10782
On HipChat they said it could take a while to figure out the root cause.
I’m trying to fashion a workaround in the meantime. We should be seeing
100% failures on 4.14.1 since whatever this change was went in. Can we go
look at the analytics and get an idea of when this change went in? It
might help Infra figure out what to revert.
