The distribution of CXF 2.4.1 is missing some of the jetty-* jars in the lib dir in order to execute some of the samples (w/o maven)

Namely for the Java-First-Spring sample the jars jetty-xml, jetty-webapp and jetty-servlet are missing in the lib folder.

This is as designed.   We cannot ship all the dependencies needed by all the examples.   We would need to ship ActiveMQ, Ruby, Groovy, etc....   which would make the download huge and provide a lot of unnecessary "bloat" for most users.

The point of the maven builds is to pull in the additional dependencies that are needed for the various examples.
