execute a Task from a Logger?

Is it possible to re-use a task within a logger? essentially, what I'd like
to do is re-use the Replace task within my logger, however, it always fails
when it attempts to log. I believe that this is because the Task is not
associated with any given Project, and therefore, has no mechanism to log,
which throws the NullPointerException. Is there anyway to get around this?
