[ANNOUNCE] Apache Derby 10.16.1.1 released

The Apache Derby project is pleased to announce feature release 10.16.1.1.

Apache Derby is a sub-project of the Apache DB project. Derby is a pure Java relational database engine which conforms to the ISO/ANSI SQL and
JDBC standards. Derby aims to be easy for developers and end-users to work with.

The chief feature of this release is the removal of support for the Java SecurityManager, anticipating its removal from the Open JDK as part of
https://openjdk.org/jeps/411. Derby 10.16.1.1 runs on JDK 17 and up. Users who need to run Derby-powered applications on older JVMs should select an earlier version of Derby, as described on the Derby download site.

Derby 10.16.1.1 also contains bug and documentation fixes and it can be obtained from the Derby download site:

      http://db.apache.org/derby/derby_downloads.html.
