Cocoon-1.7.1 service time

Hello,
I just switched in Cocoon-1.7.1. Every thing is OK.
But with a very complex XML page, the service time increases from about 38s 
with Cocoon-1.6.1 to more than 118s with the new version !
For a simple page, the service time is multipled by 3 (<1s to >2s)
Where is the brake ?

I too have noticed response times increasing when moving from 1.7 to 1.7.1

When I try to run this test, I experience the following problem after 
switching from the current Cocoon-1.6.1 to the new 1.7.1

java.lang.NullPointerException
  at 
org.apache.jserv.JServServletManager.checkReload(JServServletManager.java:408)
  at org.apache.jserv.JServConnection.processRequest(JServConnection.java:255)
  at org.apache.jserv.JServConnection.run(Compiled Code)
  at java.lang.Thread.run(Compiled Code)

This problem did not occured during the initial test. When I cross back to 
1.6.1 everything is OK ...

I also see slow responses ...
How can I disable logging ?
Is it tomcat's logging or cocoon's logging ?
