Sorting results rfc 2891

I have implemented my own partition.  I have a client app that is
complaining that results are not being returned in sorted order.
However, in the packet trace I also do not see any request for
attributes to sort on, tho they do request attributes.  Is it up to my
partition to sort them?  Does ADS support 2891?  If some results come
from the ou=system, and some from ou=myPartition, will ADS sort those
together?
