View development and testing

I've recently started exploring the possibility of using Freemarker
templates to render my views.  One of the things I like about the idea
is that it's easy to execute my Actions and merge them with result
templates without deploying to a servlet container.  Is anyone doing
this successfully with JSP's -- using ServletUnit for example?
