This appears to have been fixed on master by [adf29acc2edf](https://github.com/apache/hudi/commit/adf29acc2edf4d30ce55366b5c49ad28bc5c6a31) (PR [#18461](https://github.com/apache/hudi/pull/18461)), which added a `finally` block to `FileSystemBasedLockProvider.close()` that invokes `storage.close()` after deleting the lock file, ensuring the `HoodieStorage` resource is released. Note: for the default `HoodieHadoopStorage` backend `close()` is a no-op (Hadoop `FileSystem` instances are JVM-shared and cached), so this primarily benefits non-Hadoop storage backends and satisfies the `HoodieStorage` contract. If the original report was specifically about Hadoop `FileSystem` instances accumulating, that is governed by the shared `FileSystem.CACHE` and not by this provider. Closing this issue — please reopen if the leak is still observed on a recent build.
