[Bug 62509] New: For '-Jjmeter.save.saveservice.output_format=xml'
parameter the generated jtl file also shows redirect urls
https://bz.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=62509
Bug ID: 62509
Summary: For '-Jjmeter.save.saveservice.output_format=xml'
parameter the generated jtl file also shows redirect
urls
Product: JMeter
Version: 4.0
Hardware: PC
Status: NEW
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: Main
Assignee: issues@jmeter.apache.org
Reporter: dineshbiradar95@gmail.com
Target Milestone: ---
*Requirement* :
- We need to run the JMeter script in Bamboo test plan
- The JMeter Aggregator Plugin is used to generate the report on Bamboo based
on the jtl file (having xml data) generated from above step
*Steps to Reproduce* :
- Run the jmx file in non-gui mode and pass the parameter
'-Jjmeter.save.saveservice.output_format=xml', save the result jtl file with
jtl extension
- Observe that the jtl file shows the redirect urls in it
- Now run the script again in non-gui mode without passing the parameter
- Observe that the jtl file does not shows the redirect urls in it
*How this is Affecting* :
- Because of the extra data in jtl file (xml format) the JMeter Aggregator
Plugin is showing extra Samplers in its report

Hi Philippe,
- I have checked that when 'jmeter.save.saveservice.subresults=true' in
'jmeter.properties' file then redirect urls are shown in XML results
- When 'jmeter.save.saveservice.subresults=false' in 'jmeter.properties' file
then redirect urls are not shown in XML results
- Please refer the attached screenshot :
https://bz.apache.org/bugzilla/attachment.cgi?id=36038
- Please confirm what should be correct status for the issue (looks like Closed
-> Invalid)

Please refer the attached screenshot for jtl file with xml type data in it (i
can't attach the actual jtl file because it customer contains customer related
data) :
- The Sampler name is 'Login - oauth'
- When we hit this url then we are redirected to other url's. These other url's
are shown as child of 'Login - oauth' Sampler tag as we can see in the the
screenshot
- Attachment name : jtl_with_xml_data.png
Please refer the attached JMeter script output in csv file format :
- This file is showing only one Sampler 'Login - oauth' and not the redirect
url's
- Attachment name : jmeter_issue_csv_data.csv

Hello,
This is normal behaviour.
Before JMeter 5.0 (Enhancement of Bug 62470), CSV format does not include
subresults while XML format does.
Since by default :
jmeter.save.saveservice.subresults=true
You get those subresults in XML.
So just set:
jmeter.save.saveservice.subresults=false
Feel free to reopen if you still face issue.
Thank you
