[jira] [Updated] (CASSSIDECAR-202) Fix flaky test CassandraSidecarDaemonTest
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CASSSIDECAR-202?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:all-tabpanel ]
Yifan Cai updated CASSSIDECAR-202:
----------------------------------
Change Category: Quality Assurance
Complexity: Normal
Component/s: Build
Status: Open (was: Triage Needed)
PR: [https://github.com/apache/cassandra-sidecar/pull/184]
CI: [https://app.circleci.com/pipelines/github/yifan-c/cassandra-sidecar?branch=CASSSIDECAR-202%2Ftrunk]
In addition, I tested the flaky test locally with 100 loops. It passes. The command used to launch the repeated test is the following.
{code:java}
COUNTER=0 && while [[ "$(./gradlew :server:test --tests org.apache.cassandra.sidecar.CassandraSidecarDaemonTest --rerun | grep -c 'BUILD SUCCESSFUL')" == "1" ]]; do echo "It was a good run. $COUNTER"; ((COUNTER=COUNTER+1)) done {code}

> {color:#000000}The test is flaky according to CircleCI. The cause is a race condition. When test starts, sidecar server might not yet bind to the port, causing test cases to fail. {color}
