DO NOT REPLY [Bug 76667] Show applied styles in a style area pane next to document window

https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=76667

--- Comment #7 from Brian Westlake <br...@lavabit.com> 2012-02-20 04:36:39 UTC ---
Hello OpenOffice Developers,

To me, this capability lack of OpenOffice Writer to be able to display the
style of each document element lock step with the display of the document
itself is a serious deficit in the potential functionality and facility of the
OpenOffice Writer - and is a non-trivial factor in peoples decision making,
whether to migrate from Microsoft Word to OpenOffice Writer.

It is one of the features that still keeps me using Microsoft Word, despite
it's extensive portfolio of quirks and frustrations, because it is a feature
that is so useful in ensuring that your document is well designed at a
meta-structural level beyond the textual content itself and helps to ensure
that it remains well designed at a meta-structural level, upon re-editing and
re-design.

Consider it a highly effective "style punctuation" aide - a logical structure
debugger - indeed a logical style debugger.

It is such a logical capability to have such a global overview of the style
structure of a document, lock step with what is being displayed on the page.

"P3 Trivial" is not a commensurate assessment of the functionality and facility
of such a feature.

Please reconsider implementing it.

Thank you.
