   Not like all other file systems.  As I recall, ROMFS supports . and ..
   
   I think we should not not remove support for . and .. but we should, instead, ADD support for . and .. to other file system.  What is the justification form removing . and .. here?  To solve a bug introduced by your other PR?  Not a good enough reason.
