corrupt journal records found in activemq

I am using ActiveMQ 5.13.3.

Why do Journal records get corrupted? 

I want to understand what are the scenarios when journals get corrupted?

Any insights would be helpful.

Hard crashes of the broker process would be one thing that could cause
corruption. Network problems that interfere with your ability to write to
your ZFS mount would be another.
