   Even though the `_` characters are not escaped I cannot see any problem with them in github rendering. In addition there are other markdown files in the repo that contains much more unescaped `_` characters. Even `README.md` has another one.
   Also, in `Encodings.md` where all the encoding names (e.g. BIT_PACKED, RLE) are listed we never use the `coding` format only simple CAPITALS. I think we should use the same formatting concept in all docs.
