render attributes?

Hi!

Maybe a stupid question, but why isn't there a setRenderAttribute(String, Object) method on the ActionResponse object to set attributes besides Strings that can be made available to the RenderRequest? Obvioulsy, one can put such objects in the PortletSession, but I think it would be nice to be able to scope such attributes down to the current render request.

Sincererly,

Hi,
that is in order to keep the size of these parameter small as the data
need to be encoded in the URL or stored on the server with a reference
to these data.
