jmeter properties logger not working properly

Hello,
in the jmeter.properties file if you set this two properties

jmeter.loggerpanel.display=truejmeter.loggerpanel.maxlength=0
then the logger panel get displayed at start BUT is empty and do not show anything.No INFO nor DEBUG Messages. It's just empty.
If you put

jmeter.loggerpanel.maxlength=80000

as in the example then everything works perfect.The logger is logging INFO and DEBUG Messages etc.
So it seems that you can't set this:
jmeter.loggerpanel.display=truejmeter.loggerpanel.maxlength=0
But why?In 2.11 this worked perfectly. 
Is this a know bug?
