can't get the example servlet to work

I followed the directions in the tomcat manual (I can get their example
servlets to work)
as well as the directions in velocity's readme.

I get http 404 error (not found) when trying to access the example servlet.

any advice on what I'm missing?

thanks

That might be confusing... I meant to ask:
Which velocity library JAR file are you using?

Give us a little more info and we'll see if we can set you on the right
track. ;-)

What tomcat version?
What OS?
What JSDK version?

Are you using the instructions here?
http://jakarta.apache.org/velocity/developer-guide.html#TomcatExample

What does your directory structure look like?
What URL are you trying?
Which velocity file are you using?

Cheers,
Timo

This usually indicates a permissions problem with the file. That is, the
id running the web browser does not have the correct permissions.
