I can confirm the issue is fixed by r31516.

But I found a serf abort by running
# svn merge -c 31516 http://svn.collab.net/repos/svn/trunk/

(I forgot to switch back to neon after the test of the previous mail)

Merging using neon succeeded.

I was able to reproduce and analyze this serf abort issue. Reported this 
as #3212.

Can you turn that into a full reproduction recipe?  Serf is still
experimental, so we don't need to fix that for 1.5.0, but it would be
nice to get it fixed for future releases.

While obviously the bug report here is of independent interest, note
that I made a backport branch for r31516.
