Picklist Grouping

Right now orders are grouped for picklists based on the shipment
method type (i.e. Ground, Next Day, etc.). This may not be ideal if
you are handling a large number of orders and have packing stations
devoted to specific carriers (with appropriate boxes and envelopes),
since Fedex ground & UPS ground will be on the same picklist.

We made the change to group by carrier + shipment method - would
there be any objections to making this new grouping the default in
the project, or is there a reason to preserve the old grouping?

I think that sounds like a good enhancement to go back into the project.

It might be nice to preserve the current form and add a new one below it with the alternate grouping, but I don't know if it's even a big enough deal.

We just created shipment methods that encapsulate the carrier into the type.
So instead of the OE applications offering Ground, we have both UPS Ground and
DHL Ground.

However, we are thinking about going back to "normal" :) ofBiz concept of the
CSR or end user choosing a type of shipping and having the warehouse system rate
shop and choose best shipper.

How are you determining now if it goes USPS, DHL, FedEX, UPS?

Can the grouping be made to be configurable rather than hardcoded? Maybe a setting on the facility?
