[VOTE] next tomee version (targetting EE 7)
we spoke a lot but didn't decide anything yet so throwing a vote
The idea is to finally choose which version will use next TomEE release.
The vote is also on the merge or not of TomEE and OpenEJB versions (just to
be clean).
So please answer on:
What version do you want for next TomEE release?
- 2.x (current by default)
- 5.x (aligned with openejb)
- 8.x (aligned with Tomcat)
- 7.x (aligned with EE)
- dont' care
Do you want to align TomEE and OpenEJB versions?
- yes
- no
- don't care
Vote will be open for 72 hours

+1 from me, this is the logicial number after 1 which was already a bit
change from openejb so I think we can't change for each major to show some
consistency.

Overall, I'm not that fussed. Would prefer not to be v5 or v8.

Initially I was not in favour of this, but having been fighting with Maven
release:prepare / release:perform for a while now, I'm now +1 for aligning.
I know this has been discussed before, and no doubt our release issues with
Maven can be resolved, it does feel like aligning these version numbers
would just make this process much easier.
As a side note, there has previously been an OpenEJB 2, so if we wanted to
go TomEE v2.0 and align the OpenEJB aspects on that, I think the groupId
would need to become org.apache.tomee. A version 2 release feels like a
good opportunity to do that.
