Kind of verified the behavior with tomcat too. Added a couple of debug 
statements to sample fileupload webapp. while NN7 displays the error jsp as 
soon as it has determined that the filesize exceeds the max, IE6 displays the 
error page only after uploading the whole file...

btw, whats the best way (unobstrusively) to monitor the traffic to and from 
tomcat?
