httpd-2.0 hangs (on www.apache.org)
It appears that the current httpd-2.0 hangs when trying to access a
file to which it has no read access.
I crafted a "chmod go-r index.html" file at
http://www.apache.org/~martin/
which shows this problem.
I did not try and truss the executable yet.

Resolved: not an apache problem, but a (non-apache) proxy problem.

Do you get the 500 immediately? Coz I don't get any response (not even
zero size) when I try it @apache.org. My browser simply times out.
On my local 2.0.27, I get 403 as well.

Of course.

With 2.0.27 or current HEAD, I get 403 Forbidden when I try the same
thing, which is the right answer IMO. With 2.0.24 (running in
production today), I get 500 Internal Server Error. So I think
OtherBill fixed something.
Can you please try this again when we get a new 2.0 build running
again? It should be soon.
