Now that I think about it again, I have the feeling we have yet to talk about what the artifacts we would deploy to Maven Central represent. The Maven artifacts are logically not binary identical to the artifacts from the Ant build, but worse, there could also be discrepancies in terms of dependencies because we don't ensure that the versions of all dependencies are in sync between build.xml and pom.xml files.

What do you think about releasing the Maven artifacts in this state? I think we should first take a step back and first formulate the problem we are trying to solve here more precisely.
