The outer systemProperties check is unnecessary and causes it to fail.

    if (systemProperties) {
        sslSocketFactory = new SSLConnectionSocketFactory(
                (SSLSocketFactory) SSLCertificateSocketFactory.getDefault(0),
                 supportedProtocols, supportedCipherSuites, hostnameVerifier);
    } else {
        sslSocketFactory = new SSLConnectionSocketFactory(
                (SSLSocketFactory) SSLCertificateSocketFactory.getDefault(0),
                hostnameVerifier);
    }
}
