Schedule now ready at
https://fosdem.org/2013/schedule/track/apache_openoffice/

We were also officially assigned our room: room AW1.125.

You will find that we also added the "Hacking OpenOffice" session. Not a
presentation, but more a questions/answers session, where I expect
everybody who has experience with OpenOffice development to be there and
discuss best practices and possible tasks that newcomers can pick (I had
to list some names as "speakers" due to technical constraints, e-mail me
off-list if you want me to make changes).

I agree with Andrea.
People outside our community and user base first have to learn the abbreviation
"AOO".

Sure, I'll try to have a couple of simple A3 printouts (or A4 if I don't
manage to print in A3) with the full devroom schedule.

An important detail: in the organizer's list of stands that you
forwarded, the Apache OpenOffice stand was called "AOO". This is hard to
understand for people who are not familiar with the project. Our devroom
is called "Apache OpenOffice" and our stand should be called "Apache
OpenOffice" too, not "AOO". Maybe you can check with them that they will
use "Apache OpenOffice" if they make posters/signage/booklets with the
list of all stands?

   Andrea.

Andrea, could you please make a simple poster, which contains the
dev-room program (and the room number). We can place it a the stand
(booth) to inform the public in that way. Maybe we can place it also on
other places.

Excellent.

Well, why wait - made those changes, found a couple of typos and did a
little hard formatting to let it breath a bit more on the second page.

Both of the drop box files are updated. Barring any other requests, will
call that done.

Some quick comments.

1 -- the first paragraph is really weak. "Subsequent to a transfer of
rights...." "Hence"? A bit bureaucratic. Why not just take our
standard opening, from the "Why OpenOffice?" Page:

"Apache OpenOffice is the leading open-source office software suite
for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, databases
and more. It is available in many languages and works on all common
computers. It stores all your data in an international open standard
format and can also read and write files from other common office
software packages. It can be downloaded and used completely free of
charge for any purpose."

We should be promoting the product, not giving free history lessons.

2 -- The trademark acknowledgement in the footer is wrong. For
example, the feather logo is not being used at all. And we're claiming
a trademark on "Apache OpenOffice" not on "OpenOffice".

So better would be something like this:

"Apache OpenOffice is a trademark of The Apache Software Foundation.
OpenOffice.org and the seagull logo are registered trademarks of The
Apache Software Foundation."

3 -- the "Can I participate?" section sends users to the users mailing
list. Is that what we want. I would have thought sending them to the
dev list would be better. Or even better: Link to
http://openoffice.apache.org/get-involved.html which will get them to
the right information faster.

4 --On back side -- It should be Open Document Format with a space and
capital 'F' (two places).

Otherwise this looks great -- thanks, Drew!

I updated the font (ubuntu) all the way around.
Rewrote the last column of second page, ehh to be honest.

There will be a couple tweaks to apply (including replacement of the

Thanks! But I think there's something to fix on the wiki, I can't
download the file. The link in your page goes to

which returns a "Not found" error.

Re: Apache OpenOffice at FOSDEM 2013

Well, this Tri-Fold flyer isn't done. I put to current file to the wiki at:
http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/File:AOO_Flyer.odt

The first paragraph (two actually) on page one needs re-write I think.
The right hand column on page 2 certainly needs re-write.

I made a subtle change with the logos, using what was in the original but
without zooming one up 300%, would look terrible printed I think.

So, if anyone has an ideas on those sections, feel free to just update the
file directly or post a message. I'm off to do a few other things, will
check here and the wiki this evening when I come back to this.

Thanks

for AOO track?

Re: Apache OpenOffice at FOSDEM 2013

Hi,

A couple of quick questions as I finish up the tri-fold brochure:

Supported operating systems
- the original lists in three places with three different sets of OS:

(fr cover) Windows, Linux, Unix, OS/2, OS X, Solaris

(bk cover) Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, IBM OS/2, OS X, Solaris

So, I believe the back cover is more correct, and would use it for both?

In a body section it again lists them, but differentiates between what is
available from the main AOO website (Win, Linux, OS X) and those from third
parties (OS/2, Solaris, Free BSD and Portable) and lists this link,
http://www.openoffice.org/porting/ to find these. This is going to go away,
yes? What would you like for this link?

Oh one other thing, anyone know what overgangsëffecten translates to, the
only word I'm lost on.

Thanks,

Drew
