By inserting the [<base> tag|https://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_base.asp] (or rewriting the existing one if present) will simplify a lot of rewrite rules, we won't have to rewrite relative URLs then which can be significant number of rules for doing the same thing again and again. <base> tag would simplify a lot of things when it comes to rewriting.
