The website will be updated with this info soon.

As the the only question that is on everyone's mind -- "WHERE'S THE
CODE????", my answer is that it's still coming. I know that everyone
here has been waiting for a while and I'm sure some of you are starting
to wonder "is it gonna happen at all?"

Yes. It's still going to happen.

Why is it taking so long? The answer to that question is manifold. Sun
is a big company. Big companies take a bit of education when it comes to
this sort of thing. Furthermore, this isn't just Sun slapping a MPL
license on the code, spanking it on the butt, and wishing it well -- or
even setting up it's own site a la Netscape and Mozilla -- this is Sun
dealing with, and delivering the code to an organization (the Apache
Software Foundation) which already exists. In such a situation where two
entities have to come to a certain number of understandings about each
other, things can take a while. It's a bummer, but true.

So, when's the code going to be out?

Hopefully soon. Things are looking good. Hopefully we'll have a date to
announce before too long. And yes, this will be the place where you'll
hear that date first.

And one last thing, in response to a set of questions that kept popping
up in Monterey the last few days (at the O'Reilly conference) -- yes,
the license for the code will be the standard Apache license.. :) There
*isn't* going to be any release under a CorporateNamePublicLicense... :)
