Version Numbers...?
when a component is moved out from server trunk, should the version
numbering continue to reflect the server versioning, or should it just
be split?
for example, should imap start with a new version numbering system
(probably 0.5 in this case), or should it correspond to the server
version (3.0)
opinions?

I don't think there is a generic answer to this, but if we want one here
is my attempt:
If a component has already been released as part of server then the
versioning will continue from the server version, otherwise a new
versioning should be used.
Furthermore If a component depends on james-server (an extension) then
using corresponding major version could help.

In this case I prefer 0.5.
