While I am +1 on the suggested change, I'd also want Joda classes to be first-class citizens in Cayenne. So maybe we just add all the needed ExtendedTypes? (as long as Joda core dependency is setup as "provided" or some such Maven scope that does not mandate Joda in every Cayenne app)

Also not sure how ConverterFactory is useful in supporting Joda?
