We're deviating too much for other purposes such as trim so this is no longer a valid goal.

> This will allow us to remove bufferl from the Drill codebase.  I suggest utilizing the ResourceLeakDetector's use of SystemPropertyUtil to model for our needs.  This should be pretty straightforward for a new contributor.
