[jira] [Created] (INFRA-3570) Create SVN repository for Mesos

Create SVN repository for Mesos
-------------------------------

                 Key: INFRA-3570
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-3570
             Project: Infrastructure
          Issue Type: Task
      Security Level: public (Regular issues)
          Components: Podling Setup, Subversion
            Reporter: Matei Zaharia

We'd like to import the source code for Mesos into Apache as part of the incubation process. We're currently using a Git repository on GitHub and we understand that we need to switch to SVN. We'd appreciate any help on how to import history as part of that process. I also understand from Tom White that there is some work going on to allow projects to be hosted directly in Git, so if that's the case, we'd be happy do that as well.

[jira] [Commented] (INFRA-3570) Create SVN repository for Mesos

Gavin commented on INFRA-3570:
------------------------------

Currently there is no way (that I and others I have asked know of) to successfully import the Git Repository history into the SVN instance, so you will lose all of that. That being the case, unless really large, you can import the data into your svn space yourselves -- let me know if that poses a problem.

Regarding Git hosting at the ASF - it is not ready yet - at least not read/write canonical repository - we have git mirrors which also replicate to github/apache/$project so you can continue to work using Git and use dcommit to get into svn - check the infrastructure-dev@ mailing list archives recently for how others say they do it.

Please close this issue if all sorted or ping again for more help.

Thanks Gavin. We'll probably just import the data manually into SVN in this case.
