andygrove opened a new issue, #2417:
URL: https://github.com/apache/arrow-datafusion/issues/2417

**Is your feature request related to a problem or challenge? Please describe what you are trying to do.**
DataFusion currently does not allow subqueries without aliases so does not support queries like the following, which Spark supports.

I checked the ANSI SQL:2016 specification and I could not see anything in there that requires subqueries to have aliases either, although I think that Postgres may require it.

```
scala> spark.sql("SELECT * FROM (SELECT * FROM t1)").show
+---+
c0
+---+
1
2
3
+---+
```

**Describe the solution you'd like**
I would like this query to work in DataFusion.

**Describe alternatives you've considered**
None

**Additional context**
None
