problem when getting values from URL

Hello,
can anybody tell me what's wrong? I get internal server error when try to
use such methods like getParameter(java.lang.String name) or
getParameterValues(java.lang.String name) in my JSP files. I'm not an admin
of that server (it's Tomcat 4.0.4 by the way). I have averythin running
perfect on my tomcat 4.0.5 localhost at home. is it admins mistake or it is
better to update the server?
all ideas welcome
