[ANNOUNCE] Apache SystemDS 2.2.0 released

The Apache SystemDS team is pleased to announce the release of Apache
SystemDS version 2.2.0. This is the second minor release after 2.0.0.
Apache SystemDS is a versatile system for the end-to-end data science
lifecycle from data integration, cleaning, and feature engineering, over
efficient, local and distributed ML model training, to deployment and
serving.

Thanks to everyone for fixing the issues.

For detailed information about the updates, please access the release notes:
https://systemds.apache.org/release-notes/systemds-release-notes-2.2.0.html
The release notes may go through a few minor fixes in the coming future.

Agree. This seems more natural than releasing a major release
without adequate testing cycles.

great - thank everybody.

Previously we discussed directly switching to JDK 11, Spark 3, and 
Hadoop 3 and releasing again. After thinking more carefully about it, I 
would propose to now make the switch to JDK 11 (I have the PR ready) but 
continue with normal release cycles in the hope of getting enough time 
to test with (and tune for) the new JVM and Spark characteristics.
