[ANN] Apache FOP 0.94 Released
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
The Apache XML Graphics team is pleased to announce the release of
Apache FOP version 0.94.
This is the second production-level release after the big re-design
effort. It includes many bug fixes and new features, the most important
being:
- - auto-detection of the fonts installed on the system; the XML metrics
generation is now optional;
- - support for the collapsing-border model in tables;
- - internal links in PDF now point to the exact location, and not to the
top of the page;
- - support for UAX#14 type line breaking. This annex of the Unicode
standard specifies rules for breaking text into lines depending on the
language used.
The complete list of changes is available at
http://xmlgraphics.apache.org/fop/0.94/changes_0.94.html
FOP 0.94 implements the XSL-FO 1.1 recommendation to a high degree of
compliance. See the compliance page for a detailed overview:

I can take care of that.

Yes, Jeremias and me are the project owners at the moment. Should I add
you? I've added the release.

I’ve sent announcements to all the mailing lists listed on the release
page [1], excepted the XSL-FO yahoo group where I’m waiting for
subscribe authorization. There’s http://www.w3.org/Style/XSL/ and
Freshmeat left. I didn’t find out how to post a news on the former.
Should I directly contact the site owner? For the latter I guess project
admin rights are required, which I don’t have. Christian?
Oh, and I’ve just seen you’ve already added a new entry for the 0.94
version on Bugzilla. Thanks!

Cool! Thanks very much for taking care of the release, Vincent! Sorry
I missed the vote.
Cheers

Well, being the server of the whole Apache Foundation, I’m not sure we
have the rights to change the cache settings. Or perhaps we can change
them locally to our website, I’m not a specialist. Anyway, if it’s just
a matter of waiting 2 days, that’s perhaps not worth the trouble. There
is already a lag between the website and the download mirrors, since the
former refreshes faster than the latters. So...

Hi Vincent,
My mistake, I was indeed viewing the cache.
Btw, if you know the release date, you can change the cache settings on
the Apache server to a fixed date so that people accessing the site will
indeed see your good progress, instead of an old page (or set it in
general to a smaller timeout? I see it is now 2 days, that sound ok?)
(maybe it was just an itch of FF?).
Cheers,

I updated this page for the release and don’t think those terms still
appear on the site. Are you sure you aren’t seeing a cached version? Try
to refresh the homepage.

just a minor note, but on your homepage
http://xmlgraphics.apache.org/fop/, you still talk of XSL-FO 1.1 Working
Draft, which is a Recommendation since end last year...
btw: I also love the new PS addition with the two-pass creating smaller
sizes. This is very (very!) important for large scale volume printing
with images. Thanks!

Congratulations to ya all! This is great news, I (and many with me, I am
sure) eagerly awaited this release.
Particularly: the collapsing border model and the line breaking are of
major importance for us, thanks a bunch!
Cheers to your excellent coding team,
