XPath - NodeSet - Xerces Dom Node List

Has any one run across the following problem or know how to do the
following? 

Evaluating an XPath expression using Xalan Xpath will return the result data
in NodeSet.
Is there a way to convert Xalan Nodeset back to Xerces Dom node list?

Alternatively, is there a way to convert the result Xpath nodeset to DOM
Document?
