Time-based Commitlog Backup feature will make Cassandra in line with other DBMS system on point-in-time backup and recovery capability. Currently, we are not able to schedule commit log backup for Cassandra. The commit log archiving process is triggered by size. This is difficult to communicate with the business what is data loss SLA in the case of using the commitlog backup for data recovery when the whole cluster is corrupted.
