Languages Office Writer
Hi,
I normally write in German, but as I am living in Spain, many words are spanish, too. But always the program put These red lines under the spanish words.
As I know, I can´t use more than one language with this program, but I think it would be very useful if there will be a function to use more languages, at least two at the same time.
It is only a idea, but maybe you find a solution?

Don,
There is a way to add words to the dictionary. I use it rarely, so it
may or may not be what you want. To add a word:
enter your word -> after spell-check red-underlines your word, right
click on the word -> Choose Add -> standard.dic
The red underlining should go away, indicating the word is now in the
dictionary. There may be a way to directly edit the dictionary, but I
have never needed that, so I cannot help there.
Hope this helps.

In the documentation, available from
https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/OOo3_User_Guides .
As you will see, styles are covered in Chapter 3 of the Getting
Started Guide, "Using Styles and Templates", as well as in Chapter 6,
"Introduction to Styles", and Chapter 7, "Working with Styles", of
the Writer Guide.
I trust this helps.

1. Yes, you can. You can because it is a text document. However,
that is not what I would suggest. Since you use multiple languages,
I recommend you create a user created dictionary file for each
language. (Help should tell you how to do this.) Then assign a
language to each dictionary. (Spanish for the Spanish words,German
for the German words, English for the English words) See Help for
how to do this also.
2.
How well do you understand the use of styles in Writer? If not
well you need to learn. There are chapters on styles that will be
very helpful.

You can use both German and Spanish. Install a Spanish dictionary from
the Extensions site http://extensions.openoffice.org/ and then use
Format - Character to specify the language of selected text (this allow
you to have an entire document in Spanish as well as selecting a few
words and saying they should be considered as written in Spanish).
Regards,
Andrea.
