There are some notable limitations to this that users should be aware of:

# any per-table properties for the built-in tables ({{accumulo.\*}}) would not be available when the volume is chosen for their initial default tablets, unless one sets the per-table property in the {{accumulo-site.xml}} file, at which point it would apply to all tables by default.

# volumes chosen are 'sticky' for a tablet. See ACCUMULO-3090. This is true independently of this feature, but it's something users might need to be aware of.
